Anokhi
Biography
I grew up in India and have been living between South Africa and India for 15 years. I work in international development, particularly on the African continent, on subjects such as sustainable cities, renewable energy and climate change. Alongside this, travel, art and culture have always been part of my life.
In 2012, I was working on my doctorate in London and desperately needed a creative outlet. I took up jewellery-making classes on a whim — and I was hooked! I didn't take it very seriously at first; it was more of a hobby that I practised, with creations made mainly for my friends and family.
At the start of last year, I decided to become more committed. I happened across jewellery made by architects. It was a click! Especially as I had noticed that there was little celebration of ancient African architecture (which had moved me deeply during my travels). I therefore decided to create a line celebrating ancient African architecture.
