Aya N'da

Biography

Franco-Ivorian, Aya N'da was born in France and grew up in Côte d'Ivoire. She has been based in Guadeloupe since 2005. Though she has always loved painting and drawing, she came to it late, having devoted the first part of her professional life to medicine: she is a doctor specialised in anaesthesia and intensive care.

Now a part-time doctor, Aya N'da has officially made her passion for painting and her artistic activities her second profession.

Her work is principally focused on abstraction and is built around an assertive aesthetic enquiry. She draws inspiration from the aesthetics of African textiles — their textures, symbols and dyes.
