Biography

A contemporary painter born in 1982 in Adjamé, Côte d'Ivoire, Casimir Balibié Bationo comes from the Lélé ethnic group of north-western Burkina Faso. He currently lives and works in Meknès, Morocco.

After several training periods in painting, life drawing, photography, lighting and animated film, he trained in contemporary painting for three years and learned techniques decisive to his practice.

His inspiration and imagination are nourished by the human and artistic encounters afforded by his "nomadic" life between the multicultural facets of the African continent and his European forays. His painting has a universal dimension, ever in motion as the world is. Through coloured, rhythmic atmospheres and faces made of shadows and contrasts, CasziB renders his gaze on an Africa in action, strong in its values, as well as on Western culture; he expresses the meeting and crossing of these cultures.
