Anne Mukuria

Biography

Anne Mukuria is Kenyan and comes from a community in which weaving activities supplement the modest incomes drawn from farming.

She grew up watching her grandmother weave. She decided to seize the opportunity to commercialise this activity by founding Wendo, a community group bringing together 30 women and producing the African Flair brand.

Together they learn and share the weaver's craft, since different tribes and communities have different weaving styles. It is through these shared learning experiences that Anne has succeeded in forming a unique team of women who strive, through weaving, to make a difference in their lives and in the lives of their families.
