Faty Ly
Biography
Faty Ly champions craftsmanship and developed a passion for ceramics in the late 1990s — a passion that took shape with the opening of a craft gallery in 2001 in Dakar with the contribution of West African artisans. This period marks the beginnings of the Fatyly brand. Her collaboration with Diénébou Zon, a potter from Bobo-Dioulasso, allowed her to work both culinary forms and decorative surfaces, and to immerse herself in ceramics, the first art of fire.
In 2008 she graduated from Central Saint Martins in London, where she drew on the synergy between the technical knowledge of industrial ceramics and her cultural heritage.
Fatyly then turned to the world of gastronomy, creating tasting pieces for chocolate and tea in London and Paris. In doing so, she made her firm entry into tableware. Faty Ly lives and works in Dakar; she collaborates with a Limoges manufactory to ensure a high-end, finely crafted artisanal production.
