Joe Okitawonya

Biography

Joe Okitawonya is originally from Congo but, as he likes to put it, he experienced a second birth in Algeria — an artistic birth.

His works reflect his thoughts and commitments and allow him to position himself in relation to contemporary society. The thread running through his inspiration is the defence of women's rights, for in his view women play an essential role in a country's development.

His techniques include collage, fabric, calligraphy…
