Walid Farouk

Biography

Walid Farouk is a visual artist born in 1976 in Omdurman, Sudan, to a Sudanese mother and an Egyptian father.

Based in Istanbul since 2015, his artistic practice has shifted from painting to mixed media and photography.

Rather than trying to resolve questions of identity and nationality, his artistic approach is to show what brings us together rather than what divides us, and to foreground what makes us human first and foremost.

Through his works, Walid seeks to raise awareness of differences while inviting reflection on the common foundations of humanity.
