Elegance and quality are the hallmarks of these leather handbags. 2. The founder, Fatima Touré, is a Malian from the diaspora, who has lived in the United States and Switzerland. NILHANE is a journey seen through her eyes. Fatima celebrates her dynamism as well as her vulnerability, whilst paying tribute to the grace and resilience of women around the world. 3. NILHANE handbags are designed in Mali, drawing direct inspiration from cultural artefacts and fashion items such as jewellery and fabrics. They are handcrafted in Spain using sumptuous, durable leathers and precision craftsmanship.

The first collection is entitled ‘Coumba’. Its design is directly inspired by the Fulani “kwottone” earring, which is made of brass, silver or twisted gold. The subsequent collections, Maya, Mata and Rania, are all inspired by traditional Malian designs: Tuareg leather trunks, Dobbéh and Kora earrings!
