Authenticity and the integrity of the work

When you acquire art, you are trusting that the work is genuinely what the listing says — made by the artist named, described honestly, exactly the piece shown. Art Kelen takes that trust seriously.

Artists are reviewed, not anonymous. The first safeguard is the curation itself. Every artist on Art Kelen has been personally reviewed by Daffa Konaté. They are not anonymous accounts; they are known artists, present on the platform under their own practice. Acquiring a work means acquiring it from a reviewed artist, with a profile and a body of work behind them.

Listings are expected to be honest. Artists list their own work, and they are expected to represent it truthfully — accurate images, correct dimensions and medium, an honest description. This is a clear expectation of being an Art Kelen artist, not a vague hope. A listing is a promise the artist makes about the work.

The work should arrive as described. The piece you receive should match the piece you acquired — the same work, in the condition and form the listing presented. The payment protection exists partly for this: you have the chance to confirm a work is as described before the transaction completes.

If a work is not as described. If a piece arrives and is genuinely not what the listing represented, that is a real and serious matter, and there is a clear path for it. Do not confirm receipt; raise the concern. The guides on damaged or misdescribed works, disputes, and refunds explain how it is handled — and your held payment is what gives the resolution its weight.

For artists: integrity is your reputation. Representing your work honestly is not only an expectation — it is the foundation of your standing here. Collectors who receive exactly what they were shown become collectors who return, and who tell others. Honesty in a listing is an investment in your own practice.

A work should be what it claims to be. On Art Kelen, that is built into how the platform works.
