Why buying on the platform protects you

If you take one thing from this entire category, let it be this: every protection Art Kelen offers exists because the transaction happens on the platform. Step outside it, and the protections do not follow you.

The protections are tied to the platform. Your payment being held until delivery. The release happening only after the work reaches you. The clear order record. The path to a fair resolution if something goes wrong. Every one of these exists because Art Kelen sits in the middle of the transaction. They are not promises that travel with the artist — they are built into the platform itself.

An off-platform payment has none of them. If you pay an artist directly — by bank transfer, by an unrelated payment service, by any route that bypasses Art Kelen — you are no longer in a protected transaction. Your money is simply gone, on trust alone, and if the work never arrives or arrives wrong, there is no held payment, no resolution process, nothing the platform can do. You would be entirely on your own.

This is why off-platform requests are a warning sign. Sometimes a request to pay outside the platform comes wrapped in a plausible reason — a discount offered, a fee avoided, a process described as simpler. Treat every such request, however reasonable it sounds, as the clearest warning sign there is. A genuine artist on Art Kelen has no need to take you off it, and no genuine member of the Art Kelen team will ever ask you to. The reason given does not matter; the request itself is the problem.

What to do. If anyone asks you to pay, or to continue a conversation, off the platform — decline, simply and without worry about being impolite. Then tell us, through a support conversation. You are not making a fuss; you are helping us keep the platform safe for everyone.

The simple rule. Acquire on Art Kelen. Pay on Art Kelen. Keep the conversation on Art Kelen. Do that, and every protection in this category is yours. It really is that simple — and that important.
